TREATING YOUR SKIN properly should be a priority, according to Dana Doheny, member service/day spa supervisor at Exhale Spa at University Hospitals Avon Health Center.
Exhale carries Image Skincare, a cosmeceutical-grade skin care line only sold at spas with licensed aestheticians or dermatologists. It’s also the preferred skin care line for the Miss Universe Organization.
In addition, the spa offers a variety of facials, massages, nail services, hair removal options and sugaring treatments. “We just like to be a one-stop shop for all of our clients,” says Doheny.
Popular massages include sports massages (the facility sees a lot of athletes, considering it’s attached to a fitness center), pre- and post-natal massages, Swedish massages and even negative-pressure massages, known as cupping.
For cupping, essential oils are used to help a suction cup glide across the body. It lifts the skin into the cup and creates a sensation like that of a deep-tissue massage, without the discomfort. “It also can go along the spine; that manipulation doesn’t happen in a hands-on treatment,” explains Doheny.
Cupping is ideal for those suffering from headaches, arthritis, pains, tightness, cramps and more.
“People see the benefits of our treatments,” says Doheny. “They’re not just once to make you feel good. That is a perk of our treatments — you can actually see the results.”
